How to Get a Kansas Real Estate License
Kansas Real Estate Sales Agent License Requirements
General Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED in order to become licensed in Kansas.
Education requirements
- Complete a 30-hour Principles of Real Estate course.
- Complete a 30-hour Kansas Practice Course. This applies to both residents and non-residents. The certificate from this course must be filed within six months of course completion.
- If you are eligible for licensure through requirements met in another jurisdiction, then the pre-license course isn’t required.
Background check
- Applicants must request KBI/FBI background check form (REL-150) from the Kansas Real Estate Commission.
Exam requirements
Pass both the general and state sections of the Kansas Licensing Exam within 12 months of completing your Kansas Practice course. After passing your exam, you will receive an Application for License.
Application requirements
The Application for License must be filed within either:
- Six months of the exam pass date. If sections were passed on different dates, the earlier date starts the clock.
- Six months of the earliest document date (ex.: Certificates, Reports, etc.)
